Chincoteague is already known for its quaint and welcoming island ambiance. Chincoteague Island has a lot of interesting and beautiful homes. Once the holidays come around, however, that feeling is further enhanced with all the fantastic seasonal decorations.
Many of us take one day out of our holidays to cruise neighborhoods known for their Christmas lights and decorations. Have you ever viewed the exterior of a particularly well-decorated home and wished you could see inside, too? You can with the annual Chincoteague Holiday Home Tours!
The “Homes for the Holidays,” tour lets you take a good look inside twelve unique, historic, and beautifully decorated homes. You’ll see some fantastic architecture ad design as well as get some fantastic decorating ideas for your own home.
Tickets for this popular event go remarkably fast and are only $20. You can get yours by visiting Sundial Books on the island or by calling 484-995-6001.
One of the best parts of the Chincoteague Holiday Home Tours is the fact that the proceeds go towards the lighting of the island’s Christmas tree! Not only that but the tour occurs on the same day as the annual Christmas parade!
Chincoteague Island’s Old Fashioned Christmas Parade is exactly that. It all starts at 6pm with The Salt Marsh Ramblers performing in Robert N. Reed Downtown Park. After that, they light up the town and start the parade! You’ll see marching bands, floats, antique cars, and fire companies from around the Virginia shore. Chincoteague’s own Saltwater Cowboys will also be on hand, as will Santa – and so much more!
“Homes for the Holidays” isn’t the only holiday home tour on the island, either. This year, another tour has been added. The all new “Savor the Season” Progressive House Tour is scheduled for December 1st, between 6pm and 10pm. This tour is shrouded in a bit of mystery, so far but further details are promised on www.chincoteaguechristmas.com.
