Making your Virginia vacation pleasant and enjoyable while on Virginia's Eastern Shore, and specifically Chincoteague Island, is of the utmost importance to us. Depending on what type of getaway you are seeking, Chincoteague and the Island Manor House are sure to make this vacation spot extra special.
To assist you with planning your trip, we have prepared a couple of sample itineraries based upon length of stay and interest of activities. Of course, we will be more than happy to answer questions when you arrive, or make reservations for you.
Weekend Getaway-
Your two or three night stay at the Island Manor House can be filled with as much or as little as you desire. Here are some exciting activities for your visit.
Evening of Arrival
- Enjoy the refreshments on the outdoor patio or by the fire.
- Stroll through local shops and galleries
- Walk to a local restaurant for dinner.
- Watch the sunset over the Chincoteague Bay from the Downtown Waterfront Park.
- Enjoy delicious ice cream from one of the island's ice cream parlors.
Full Day
- Enjoy a full Southern inspired breakfast.
- Head off to the beach, Assateague National Seashore. You bring sunscreen and we will provide beach towels for your use.
- Walk or bike the many trails at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Bring your own bike, or rent one from a local bike shop on the island.
- Climb the Assateague Lighthouse, times and dates vary with season.
- Enjoy refreshments on the outdoor patio or by the fire.
- Take an evening Nature Sunset Cruise. We strongly suggest reserving one of our packages, or making reservations prior to arrival.
Morning of Departure
- Enjoy a full Southern inspired breakfast.
- Pack the car.
- Catch one last trip out to the beach or wildlife refuge before departing. Restrooms and open showers are provided at the beach so you can rinse off.
Four or More Night Getaway-

- Stop in at the Bateman Visitor's Center on the refuge to view exhibits and watch movies about the wildlife management and the Chincoteague Ponies.
- Catch a round of Miniature Golf at one of the island's two courses.
- Watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean from the beach.
- Watch the sunrise over Assateague Channel from Memorial Park.
- Play basketball, tennis, rollerblade, or skateboard at Memorial Park.
- Enjoy a guided or unguided kayak tour around the wonderful marshes of Chincoteague and Assateague Islands.
- Participate in one of the guided bird or nature walks offered on Assateague.
- Take the air-conditioned bus tour of the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and see some ponies up close!
- Head off the island to explore the Eastern Shore. We will be delighted to give you some points of interest to start out your adventure.
