For the 2007 Pony Swim, the 1848 Island Manor
House teamed up with Linda J Charters to provide the package of a lifetime!
Pony Swim front row, by boat that is.

Boat leaves
marina at 5:30 AM, as we round the southern tip of Chincoteague,
Assateague
Light comes into view.

Other boats
slowly arrive, while our guests enjoy the
spectacular
sunrise over Assateague Island.

Pretty soon,
boats are everywhere!
Large boats,
small boats, motor boats, row boats

Wave Runners
and runners on waves

The Boat Line
will stretch from shore of Assateague to Chincoteague

Besides boat,
land faring folks also arrive just as early.

Just got to
find the perfect spot. For some the shade of a tree, others nothing
like Marsh Mud between the toes...

Keep in mind
this only a small section of people that I could photograph from the boat.
Tens of
Thousands more standing just outside the scope of this photo at Memorial
Park.

Saltwater
Cowboys get a little help to ferry their rides across before it all begins.

Finally, at
about 11:45 AM we see the flare!
The start, not
yet just the signal of slack tide.
More waiting,
but not much longer now...

Crowds cheer
as the ponies near the water!

"Oh NO!
Now I remember!" whineys the lead mare as she abruptly turns around.

Too late the
crowd of ponies keeps coming pushing them into the water.

Almost there!

First on
Shore!

Everyone on
shore! The Ponies will rest here, while the boats hurry back
to the other
side of Chincoteague for the Parade.

Saltwater
Cowboys lead the way!

Ponies on
Parade

Ahhh....a
leisurely walk down Main St on this fine afternoon!
Swimming this
morning, no wonder everyone loves to vacation on Chincoteague!

Another Pony
Swim now "BEHIND" us!
