Come out to Chincoteague Island for an afternoon of wine, beer, food, music, and more at the Cork and Canvas Wine Festival! Saturday, October 13th, 2018, Noon to 5pm at the Chincoteague Island KOA campground.
Chincoteague’s annual Cork and Canvas Festival is a great way to enjoy a variety of regional specialties. Virginia wineries, breweries, distilleries, will present their best to accompany the stunning views of Assateague Lighthouse.
This one-day beer and wine festival also features the area’s best food trucks, offering many, delicious meal options for purchase. Live music will be provided by the energetic Tiki Bar Band.
Hoping to take a little local color home with you? The Cork and Canvas Artisan Market will have a wide selection of quality, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted goods for sale. Kids will be equal parts thrilled and entertained by a moon bounce, face painting, crafts and more.
Cork and Canvas is held at the Chincoteague Island KOA, near the Wildlife Refuge on Assateague. Your ticket gives you access to the festival, unlimited tastings, and a commemorative 2018 Cork and Canvas Tasting Glass. Best of all, a good portion of festival proceeds go towards the Virginia Special Olympics.

2018 Fall Pony Roundup
The weekend of October 12-14, 2018 also sees the annual Chincoteague Wild Pony Fall Roundup.
Twice a year – in spring and fall – the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company round up the ponies to give the herd an overall health check. The spring roundup also provides an opportunity to release any ponies they’ve bought back from the previous auction into the wild.
While these seasonal, health-check roundups are nowhere near the spectacle of the annual swim, they’re still very much worth experiencing. Further, as the two events are not as famous as the Pony Swim, the crowds are lesser, too. That means more viewing the wild ponies of Assateague close-up and less time fighting crowds.
If you’ve never experienced the wild ponies of Chincoteague up-close, a Spring or Fall roundup can be a great way to do so! The 2018 Fall Roundup is scheduled for Friday, October 12th and Saturday, October 13th.
