Chincoteague Chili Chowder Cook Off is so much fun you don’t even have to like chili OR chowder to enjoy yourself (but it wouldn’t hurt). The event draws amateur and professional chefs to Chincoteague from all around the region, every year. Each comes ready to compete with their best chili and/or chowder recipes.
And YOU are the judge!
This FREE event includes the opportunity – nay, the duty – to sample each and every chili/chowder dish offered, and then vote for your favorite. Awards will be given in both chili and chowder categories. The Cook Off also offers hot dogs, hamburgers, beverages, ice-cream and other treats to round out the choices. The food is scheduled to be served at noon, first come, first served, until it runs out.
Chincoteague Chili Chowder Cook Off also includes live music, an arts and crafts show, raffle, and other fun activities for all ages.
One of the most popular attractions is the Little Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Stuff competition. In this event, participating children drawn from the area, between the ages of 4 to 7, compete to answer questions and display a talent. The winners are crowned the 2019 Little Miss Chili Pepper and Mr. Hot Stuff.
Chincoteague Chili Chowder Cook Off Classic Car Show
Chili and Chowder is just fine but you’re more of a gearhead, you say? Well, hold onto your hat: the Cook Off also includes a classic car show!
The Chincoteague Classic Car Show has no classes. All classic vehicles are welcome – cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and more. Like the Cook Off, all attendees are eligible to vote on their favorites at the show. Voting concludes at 2pm and winners awarded at 3pm.
Have a classic car? Drive it over and enter it in the car show! Registration is $10 and occurs between 10am and noon the day of the show. The first 50 vehicles on hand will receive a commemorative dash plaque.
The Car Show starts at noon and is held at the fairgrounds, alongside the Cook Off.
