A Covid-19 Update from The 1848 Island Manor House Bed and Breakfast

April 3, 2020 by Corey A. Edwards

At this time, a statewide Stay at Home order, issued by Governor Ralph Northam, is in effect. It will remain in place until June 10, 2020, unless amended or rescinded by a further executive order.

Only residents are allowed onto Chincoteague at the moment.

Consequently, The 1848 Island Manor House Bed and Breakfast is closed until June 11th. We will keep this post up to date as things change.

We urge everyone to take care of themselves and focus on hope and togetherness rather than fear and division. We are all in this together and that’s the best way we’ll get through it.

Be safe and we’ll see all of you soon!

From everyone at The 1848 Island Manor House Bed and Breakfast

If I was told I had 24 hours to live, I would spend 23 of them getting myself to 1848 Island Manor House so I could spend the last hour there.
Can’t speak highly enough of the pleasant atmosphere, friendly clientele, hospitable caretakers, comfortable amenities, and overall human touch. Breakfast was delicious. Location is perfect walking distance from main spots in town. Stop reading this review and book this place already! You won’t regret it.

Choosing a Chincoteague Inn

January 19, 2013 by islandmanor

We know that you have a variety of lodging options when planning your trip to Chincoteague Island, and we want to make our case to you: Why should you choose Island Manor Inn?

1. Affordable Rates. Unlike the perception, our bed and breakfast is very near the price points of motels on the island, especially during the peak summer season. In fact, once you include a gourmet breakfast into the cost of a stay with us and the many free amenities we provide, you are usually breaking even with a hotel.

Choose a beautifully appointed room at our Chincoteague Island bed & breakfast during your Labor Day Weekend on the Virginia coast.

There’s still time to plan your 2012 Labor Day weekend vacation on Chincoteague Island. Book ahead at our inn between Virginia’s Eastern Shore mainland and Assateague Island. Eight individually decorated rooms await you, all with their own private bathrooms. Some have additional amenities such as flat screen TV, fireplace and garden views. The 1848 manor house has been restored to retain its historic charm while offering all the modern amenities you expect, including free Wi-Fi. In September, it’ll still be hot, so you’ll appreciate choosing an inn near Assateague that’s fully air conditioned. The large Maryland “T”-style home also offers plenty of space to relax, whether in the three spacious common areas or out on the inviting patio and surrounding gardens.

The longer Labor Day weekend gives you plenty of time to explore the natural beauty of the Virginia coast. See the Chincoteague ponies and a variety of wildlife and wild birds at the Assateague National Seashore. Strolling its 37 miles of unspoiled beaches will help you forget any cares of the workaday world. Bask on the sands of Assateague Beach or get on the water and kayak lazily past Assateague Lighthouse. You can also reach the lighthouse by biking or hiking the trail that goes from Chincoteague to Assateague Island.

As a traditional fishing village in one the the great fishing areas of the Atlantic coast, there’s also great fishing in Chincoteague. Rent some gear from a local fishing shop and peacefully fish off the pier. You can also hire a fishing charter to do some serious deep sea fishing or take a scenic cruise to see ponies, dolphins and the gorgeous Chincoteague sunset.

If you like the shopping and dining out, our inn near Assateague is right on Chincoteague’s historic Main Street. You can walk to enjoy the fresh seafood restaurants and unique shops of Chincoteague.

After a day of playing or relaxing, you’ll love coming home to the luxuries and comforts of your guest room in our Chincoteague inn.

If this sounds like a great way to spend the long Labor Day weekend, give us a call at (757) 336-5436 or check availability today!
