The 2012 Holiday Home Tour will feature a dozen extraordinary Chincoteague Island homes! This event is popular with local as out-of-town guests. For locals, it is a chance to mingle and see each other in a leisurely setting during the colder winter months, when we aren’t out on the beach – all the time. For visitors, the Holiday Home Tour is an opportunity to look around the inside of remarkable and historic homes. The home on the tour represent the architectural integrity and diversity of our eclectic community. Decked out in their finest for the holidays, the tour homes will have docents on duty to point out the rich history, architecture, distinctive features and decorations of each home. With much of the United States suffering record temperatures this summer, spending a long weekend, or much needed vacation in Chincoteague can give you a place to cool off, relax and replenish. This year on our little island, Chincoteague, home of the world renowned Assateague Island Pony Swim, has been voted the number one beach town in the United States. There is plenty to do on our vanilla bean shaped peninsula off the coast of Virginia, in addition to splashing in the surf. Chincoteague Island is an outdoor and wildlife enthusiast’s paradise.
The historic 1848 Island Manor House, our eight room bed and breakfast, is fully air conditioned, offering a gourmet breakfast. We provide top-notch concierge services to help you plan for a boat tour, fishing trip, kayaking, jet skiing, biking, nature tours and bird watching. We can also help suggest some of the best restaurants on Chincoteague, not to mention where to find the delicious oysters we’re known for.
