It’s not surprising that residents of an island would have a fascination with waterfowl. One way our coexistence with our ocean environment manifests itself is through the art of the Chincoteague residents. Some especially beautiful specimens of this work will be on display during the 23rd Annual Chincoteague Decoy Carvers’ and Artists’ Association Decoy Show, taking place over Labor Day weekend, Saturday & Sunday August 31 & September 1, 2013.

We have a fun event planned for Saint Patrick’s Day this year! This holiday also marks the beginning of spring on Chincoteague. It’s a great time to come visit and see the changing landscape of the island.
Search for the Shamrock in Downtown Chincoteague
‘In Search of the Shamrock’ is on Saturday, March 16th from 11-4. Players will travel from business to business with their playing card and must fill in the blanks based on what they discover at each business. This is great fun for the whole family.
When you finish (or by 4 p.m.) meet at Chattie’s Lounge above Don’s Seafood Restaurant (4113 Main St ). Get your card validated and be entered into the drawing for prizes donated by the participating shops. The drawing starts at 4:30 p.m. Join in a fun filled day and don’t forget to wear your green! Other Entertainment over Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend
The Island Coffeehouse is a cultural event that takes place the third Saturday of each month. Sponsored by the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance, each Island Coffeehouse generally includes a static art exhibit and two performances. Usually this includes a spoken word/poetry/theater act and then a musical performance. Meet new people and mingle. Enjoy a coffee, soft drinks, beer, wine and homemade goodies.
The Island Coffeehouse is a popular event with islanders of all ages and is a wonderful chance for visitors to expose themselves to something besides the beach while they are on Chincoteague. Come out and enjoy the fun at the Chincoteague Senior Center on Church Street. Admission is $5. Doors open at 7:00 and performances start at 7:30. For more details visit www.chincoteagueculturalalliance.org/coffee_house.html, email email@example.com, or call 757-336-0044.
