Things to Do on Chincoteague Island

Are you looking for all the great things to do on Chincoteague? There are a host of activities for all ages on the island. The area is great for bike riding, the trails are peaceful and full of wildlife and birdsong, the streets of Chincoteague are intriguing and neighboring Assateague is just glorious. The pristine beach has 37 miles of white sand and dunes.  There are plenty of spots to delight in sunbathing, surfing, collecting shells and many other beach adventures.  Bonfires and cook-outs are allowed on the beach.  There are also kayaks, canoes, jet skis and boats available either to rent or join a larger group.

The fishing on the island is superb.  Whether you are deep sea fishing, on a bay cruise, in the surf on Assateague, or from a waterside pier, you are sure to enjoy your day (no permits or special gear are required). Our local boat captains will take you out on cruises to search for shells, birds, dolphins, and ponies or to see a magnificent Chincoteague sunset from the water.

Other Things to Do on Chincoteague Island

Mini fun cars, scooters, bicycles built-for-2, and golf carts are available for rental. There is a nicely appointed Y.M.C.A. for those wishing to workout.

There is miniature golf, activities for children of all ages and retail therapy galore.  Chincoteague is decorated with tons of local shops complete with antiques, local art hand-carved decoys and souvenirs.  Don’t miss out on the Local Farmer’s Market and Art Show held every Saturday and Wednesday from 9am-1pm just one block away from the manor.

Of course you can always take time to relax with a good book, glass of wine or take in the sights of downtown from the comfort of our courtyard.  Be sure to ask for area restaurant recommendations for your favorite cuisine.  The seafood on the island is superb!
